The IPL Season 2 is all set to begin in Cape Town, South Africa today. According to IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi, over 90% tickets have been sold so for all 56 IPL matches in South Africa. The first match of the IPL 2 will be held between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore at 4 PM (Indian Standard Time) today. The second match will be held between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at 8 PM (IST). Both matched will be played in Cape Town. We have listed the key players to watch during IPL Season 2.
Defending champion Rajasthan Royals will be banking on its key players Shane Warne, Graeme Smith and Shaun Tait. Skipper Shane Warne has already fired Mohammad Kaif and a few other players. The team will miss Sohail Tanvir this time. There will be no Pakistani cricketers during IPL Season 2.
Royal Challengers Bangalore, who performed badly during the last season, is upbeat after the highest paid player in the IPL, Kevin Pietersen, joined the team. The team also pinned high hopes on Jesse Ryder, Dale Steyn, Jacques Kallis and Robin Uthappa.
Chennai Super Kings, who was the finalist in the last edition of the IPL, has high hopes from Manehdra Singh Dhoni, Andrew Flintoff, Matthew Hayden, Suresh Raina and L Balaji. King XI Punjab will miss its key player S Sreesanth, who will be cheering the team only from the dressing room. Other Kings XI Punjab players to be watched are Yuvraj Singh, Shaun Marsh, Brett Lee, Irfan Pathan and Mahela Jayawardene.
Delhi Daredevils looks formidable due to recent form of its players Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Daniel Vettori and AB De Villiers. Kolkata Knight Riders has got a new captain - Brendon McCullum. He is in superb form these days. Sourav Ganguly, who was sacked as the KKR skipper, may go all out to prove a point to coach John Buchanan.
