AP CM's chopper goes missing

A helicopter carrying Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy today went missing on its way to Chittoor district.

The helicopter took off from Hyderabad earlier in the day. An army chopper has been despatched to comb the forest
area of Kurnool district, where it is said to have disappeared.

Some TV reports said the chopper had established contacts, but it was not confirmed.

The chief minister took off by the state government chopper at 8.45 am and was supposed to land in Chittoor at
10.40 am.

However, the helicopter soon lost all radio contact. The state machinery swung into action to trace the
missing chopper and Chittoor district collector and other top officials frantically tried to establish contact with the Chief minister's aides accompanying him.

All the police stations in Kurnool district were put on high alert and police parties despatched to locate the missing helicopter.
