Mumbai's Marine Drive became the scene of a horrific midnight accident on Friday. A drunk woman driver hit her SUV into six people at a police check post. A biker who had been pulled over for a breathalyzer test died immediately. A policeman died on Saturday morning in hospital. Four other policemen have been injured and are in the Bombay Hospital.
The crash took place near Parsi Dairy on Marine Drive.
The drunk driver has been identified as 27-year-old Nooriya Yusuf Haweliwala, a resident of Colaba. She has been arrested a case of rash, drunken and negligent driving has been registered against her.
"The car rammed into a taxi and the police personnel who were a part of the drive against drunken driving as well as a member of the general public were hit. They have been admitted to a hospital. The driver of the car has been apprehended," said ACP Tadankar.
