RC Deka appointed director of AIIMS for next 5 years

NEW DELHI: Doctor RC Deka, who is currently the head of the ENT (ear, nasal, throat) department and also dean of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), has been appointed director of the institute for the next 5 years.

After almost nine months of controversy, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) finally cleared Deka's name on Tuesday.

The official order is likely to be sent to AIIMS by 4pm today.

The search for a new AIIMS director began with the retirement of former head P Venugopal in July last year.
